The north of Vietnam has a sub-tropical climate divided in two seasons a cool and dry season between November and April and a very hot and rainy season between May and October. Average annual rainfall varies between 1,600 and 2,400 mm.

The typhoons are possible in the north and center of the country between July and November.

The capital Hanoi has a wet tropical monsoonal climate, with hot and rains between May and September, and dry and cool climate between November and March. The average annual rainfall is 1,800 mm. The hottest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 33°C and an average minimum of 26°C, while the cooler is January with an average maximum temperature of 19°C and an average minimum of 13°C .

The sea water temperature in Vietnam varies between 30 ° C of the hottest months – June, July and August – and 24 ° C in the months of January, February and March.
