The climate of Venezuela varies greatly in relation to altitude, the country has a series of climates that vary from humid tropical to alpine. Temperatures do not vary much, but the factor that causes the difference between the types of climate in addition to altitude is humidity.
The areas below 800 meters above sea level have a tropical climate, with average temperatures ranging between 26 ° C and 28 ° C. The regions of the country that are between 800 and 2,000 meters enjoy a temperate climate, with temperatures ranging between 12 ° C and 25 ° C. Above 2,000 meters the climate is colder with annual averages between 9 ° C and 11 ° C, higher above 3,000 meters the average temperatures are below 8 ° C with the possibility of snowfall on the highest mountains.
THE PRECIPITATIONS
The rainy season occurs in the months between May and November. The average annual rainfall along the coast varies between 430 mm in the arid western coastal areas up to 1,000 mm in the Orinoco delta. In Caracas the annual average rainfall is about 900 mm. While in mountain areas, the rains vary greatly depending on the exposure to the trade winds, the areas exposed to the trade winds of the north-east receive considerable rainfall.
In the archipelago of Los Roques the trade winds blow throughout the year, but are more intense between January and July, the climate is very dry, the relatively rainiest months are those between the end of October and the beginning of December.
