Valencia Christmas Market

Valencia, is a beautiful and important city in Spain, located along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, the third largest in the country after Madrid and Barcelona.

Valencia has ancient origins, it was in fact founded by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, between the 8th and 13th centuries the city was under Arab control, reconquered by the Christians, in the 15th century it became one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean Sea, but with the discovery of America its role became marginal.

The Lonja de la Seda (Silk Market) of Valencia, built between 1482 and 1533, a masterpiece of late Gothic art, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but Valencia today also has important modern buildings such as those forming the City of Arts and Sciences designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

VALENCIA CHRISTMAS MARKET

During the Christmas holidays, the city of Valencia dresses up with lights and decorations, the famous Presepio (Belén) in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is very beautiful, crowned by a large Christmas tree.

Christmas Craft Fair (Feria de Artesania de Navidad – Feria de Reyes). Organized by the artisans of Valencia, this market takes place in the Plaza de la Reina, near the Catedral and the Miguelete and is made up of 27 stands where local handicraft products are exhibited.

Traditional Christmas market of the Mercado Central (Mercadillo Navideño Barón de Cárcer). A traditional Christmas market is held in the streets around the Mercado Central (Avenida Barón de Cárcer) with over 300 stalls selling Christmas sweets, marzipan, roasted chestnuts, Christmas tree decorations and nativity figurines.

Nativity Scene Market (Mercado Belenista) in the Mercado de Colón in Valencia. Organized by the Asociación de Belenistas de Valencia, it is a traditional market of nativity scene figurines that takes place in the Mercado de Colón in Valencia.

Christmas Market of the Mercado de Colón (Muestra de Navidad). The Mercado de Colón is a modernist building from the early twentieth century, the market, inside, presents handicrafts and Christmas decorations, and is especially dedicated to children with the presence of Santa Claus and the Three Kings, puppets, animations and magic shows, but you will also find theatrical performances, a large Christmas tree and a beautiful nativity scene.

Mercado del Cabañal (Mercadillo de Reyes). Market made up of over 200 stalls which is usually open only in the first days of January.
