The climate of Santa Catarina: when to go to Santa Catarina

The state of Santa Catarina, located in the southern part of Brazil, has a type of humid sub-tropical climate with rainfall well distributed throughout the year, with not too high variations in seasonal temperatures and with four well-defined seasons, the winters are cold especially in the highlands.

The temperatures vary according to the altitude, in the highlands of the interior of the state there are winter temperature values among the lowest in Brazil, in São Joaquim, a location that is over 1,300 meters high, there are average winter temperatures, in the months between June and August, which vary between 6 ° C (minimum average) and 15 ° C (maximum average). In summer, between December and February, the average maximum temperatures are around 23 ° C, while the average minimum temperatures stop at 13 ° C.

Along the coast the temperatures are milder, in Florianópolis, the average maximum temperatures vary between 29 ° C in January and February and 20 ° C in July, while the average minimum temperatures vary between 21 ° C in January and 13 ° C of June and July.

The sea water temperature is over 21 ° C between October and May, reaching the minimum of 18 ° C in August, and the maximum of 26 ° C between January and March.

WHEN TO GO TO SANTA CATARINA

The best time to visit the coast and to do beach activities in the long beaches of the state of Santa Catarina is the summer, between December and March, while those who want to see the snow in Brazil must visit the localities of the interior (São Joaquim and Urupema ) in winter.
