The climate of Porto Santo: when to go to Porto Santo

This post is also available in: Deutsch Italiano Português Español

The island of Porto Santo has a mild semi-arid climate, with stable temperatures all year round, dry winds blow and the rainfall is not abundant. It is a climate that is much drier compared to that of the neighboring island of Madeira. The island is in fact less mountainous and smaller than Madeira and therefore retains less clouds than the neighbor.

The maximum average temperatures vary by a few degrees during the seasons, in fact there are values varying between 25 ° C in the summer months and 18 ° C in the winter months, the same can be said for the minimum average temperatures, which vary between 20 ° C in summer and 13 ° C in winter.

The little rain falls almost exclusively between October and March, while between April and September the weather is beautiful and sunny, on average just over 350 mm of rain fall per year. The rainiest month is December, when an average of 70 mm of precipitation falls.

The sea water temperature remains above 21 ° C from May to November, but even in the winter months it does not drop below 18 ° C.
