The climate of Minas Gerais is generally the tropical climate of altitude, only in the less elevated areas the climate becomes tropical, both these types of climate have two seasons according to the rainfall.

Temperatures vary with altitude variation. In most of the state, which is located at altitudes varying between 600 and 900 meters, the average maximum temperatures are between 30 ° C in the summer (December-February) and 25 ° C in winter (June-August), while the average minimum temperatures vary between 20 ° C in summer and 13 ° C in winter.

The rains are concentrated in almost all the Minas Gerais between October and March. While between April and September there is the dry season. In the highlands on average there are about 1,500 mm of rain per year, but in the northern areas the rainfall decreases to values of 700 / 1,000 mm per year, in these areas the dry season includes the months between March / April and October. In areas near the border with the state of Bahia, the climate tends to become semi-arid.
