The town of Thann, located at the foot of the Vosges mountains, a few tens of km west of Mulhouse, in the Haut-Rhin department in Alsace, despite the destruction suffered during the two world wars, still maintains several prestigious buildings and a beautiful Old Town. Among the most important buildings are the beautiful Gothic-style Collégiale church of St-Thébaut dating from the 14th century, the Tour des Sorcières and the ruins of the Château de l’Engelbourg. The Thann Christmas Market is the most important event of the year in this Alsace town.
THANN CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Thann Christmas market (Marché de Noël) at the foot of the collegiate church (Collégiale Saint-Thiébaut). The Christmas Market is usually held in the Joffre et Saint-Thiébaut squares, around the Collégiale church, and is set within a forest of decorated trees. The market houses 27 wooden chalets with local handicrafts, Alsatian gastronomy and Christmas decorations. In addition to the market, during Christmas, the streets of Thann are animated by illuminations, concerts, exhibitions, stories and theatrical performances.
