SURINAME: DOCUMENTS
Documents: If you travel for tourism in the country. To enter Suriname you need a passport (with a visa) with a residual validity of at least 6 months upon entering the country. Even children and minors must have their own personal passport.
Entry visa: The visa is necessary, also for tourism, and is to be requested online at this link.

SURINAME: HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Healthcare: Public hospitals have poor services. While there are some private paid structures that guarantee good medical standards. If you visit the country, it is recommended to take out health insurance.
Vaccinations: Vaccination for yellow fever is mandatory if you come from Brazil, Guyana and French Guyana. Malaria is endemic within Suriname, but NOT in the coastal area (including the capital city of Paramaribo). If you travel to areas where malaria is endemic, we recommend that you consult the Public Health Office.
SURINAME: MOBILE PHONES AND INTERNET
Telephones: The international dialing code for Suriname is 00597.
Mobile Phones: The technology used in the Suriname network is GSM. In inhabited areas there is good signal coverage.
Mobile operators: Telesur, Digicel, Uniqa.
Internet: Internet access is possible via smartphone and Wi-Fi Internet connection. Internet cafes are easily found in Suriname in the main cities of the country. Many of the country’s hotels offer free WIFI internet.
SURINAME: POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS
Electricity: The electric current in Suriname is 127 Volts 60 Hz.
Electrical sockets: The power plugs and sockets used in Suriname are those of type C and F. The socket C is like the European one with two round plugs. The F power plugs and sockets is the classic Schuko socket also used in Europe. So to use European electrical appliances in Suriname it is not necessary to have a universal adapter.
SURINAME: CURRENCY AND BANKS
Currency: The currency unit of Suriname is the Surinamese Dollar (SRD). This currency is divided into 100 cents.
Banks: The opening hours of bank branches in the country are as follows: Monday to Friday 7.30 to 14.00.
Commercial Activities: Most commercial activities are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:30 and Saturday from 8:00 to 13:00.
