Beautiful historic city, former capital of the Duchy of Mecklenburg and today capital of the land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schwerin is surrounded by seven picturesque lakes, which during Christmas contribute to making the atmosphere of this city even more fairytale-like. The best-known building in the city is the former residence of the dukes, now the seat of the land parliament, the Schwerin Castle (Schweriner Schloss), located on an islet in the center of the lake of the same name, echoing in the forms the Castles of the Loire Valley, to visit its sumptuous interiors. In the historic center (Altstadt) there is a beautiful Gothic brick cathedral, built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the market square is also very beautiful, where the Schwerin Christmas Market takes place.

1) Schwerin Christmas Market (Schwerin Weihnachtsmarkt). The market is perfectly located in the historic center of this delightful city, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, its center is the Marktplatz, but the market stalls also extend to other squares of the old city (Altstadt) where they harmonize beautifully with the old wooden houses. Many attractions, in addition to the market you will find a beautiful ice skating rink, a toboggan run, an exhibition of nativity scenes, and lots of music.
