The climate of Saint Barthélemy: when to go

The island of Saint Barthélemy has a hot-humid tropical climate, with temperatures that undergo only slight variations throughout the year, and are moderated by the constant blowing of the north-east trade winds. The average maximum temperatures vary between 27 ° C in December and 31 ° C in August, while the minimum averages between 25 ° C in July and 22 ° C in February.

In general, the eastern part of the island receives more rainfall than the western part. The annual average rainfall is around 1,000 mm, the island is therefore rather dry by Caribbean standards, this is mainly due to the small size of the island and the low mountains that do not allow the clouds to be retained.

The months between May and December are the rainiest, this is also the period of hurricanes. The humidity is not too overwhelming due to the constant blowing of the trade winds. Even during the rainy season, rainfall occurs in the form of short but intense thunderstorms, then the rest of the day normally shines in the sun.

The sea water temperature varies between 25 ° C in the months between January and April and 28 ° C in the months between July and October.
