Small town in Burgenland located along the Neusiedlersee near the border with Hungary, a few tens of kilometers southeast of Vienna. The town is famous for its excellent wine and for being the city of storks, which nest here. Rust has a beautiful, small old town, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 (Fertö Cultural Landscape/Neusiedlersee). 1) Rust Christmas Market (Rust Adventmeile und Christkindlmarkt). In the Advent period, the stalls of the Christmas market in Rust, usually on weekends, fill the streets of the small but enchanting historic center of this Austrian town of less than 2,000 inhabitants, which boasts the title of free royal city (Königliche Freistadt). In the picturesque houses of this small town you will find exquisite and refined Christmas markets. In the Advent huts on Rust’s Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) you can relax with a meal or a drink.
