Reims Christmas Market

Reims is the largest city in the Champagne-Ardenne region, located in northern France, in a flat area along the two banks of the Vesle, a tributary of the Aisne. The city, rich in art and history, has three buildings declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO: the marvelous Gothic Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame), the ancient archbishop’s palace (Palais du Tau) and the medieval Basilica of Saint-Remi. Reims is renowned for the production of Champagne, there are underground cellars in tunnels dug underground in the city. During the Christmas period, the Reims Christmas Market is the most popular event in this Champagne-Ardenne city.

REIMS CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Reims Christmas Market (Village de Noël). Usually organized for the Tourist Office, the Reims Christmas market usually consists of around 130 wooden chalets. This pretty Christmas village made up of delightful wooden chalets is usually set up along the streets Condorcet, Théodore Dubois and on the place d’Erlon, all located in the city centre. You will find handicrafts, Christmas decorations, and delicacies of the local cuisine.

Usually located in the Place du Forum, children will find Santa’s chalet and there will be entertainment shows inside their Enchanted Palace (Palais Enchanté). There will also be a large living nativity scene. A large ice skating rink is also usually set up in the city. The craftsmen’s village is also very interesting to visit – usually in front of the cathedral.

2) Les Chemin des Crèches: an event that is usually organized annually during the Christmas holidays involving many municipalities in the region, you will find nativity scenes, exhibitions, trips, Christmas markets, concerts. The event involves 40 municipalities in the Champagne-Ardenne region, among the most important cities taking part in the event are those of Reims, Epernay, Chalons-en-Champagne and Fismes.
