Located in the center of the Belgian coast, Ostend is a very popular seaside resort for Belgians. The ancient city was destroyed during the Second World War and later rebuilt with anonymous buildings. For those who are fond of military architecture of the Second World War, the so-called Atlantic Wall (Atlantikwall) is interesting, a system of fortifications, bunkers and tunnels, built by the Nazis during the Second World War, which can be visited along a 2 km itinerary. Ostend is located a few kilometers west of the beautiful historic Flemish city of Bruges (Brugge). During Christmas the city of Ostend is transformed into a city of lights and decorations. The Wapenplein in the city center with its Christmas decorations and stalls guarantees a cozy Christmas. In the stalls of the Ostend Christmas Market you will find not only traditional snacks and drinks, but also pleasant Christmas gifts. The main square is usually festively decorated with soft lights and during the days of the Christmas market, numerous entertainment shows are usually organized in a Christmas key.
