Orléans is a beautiful historic city in France, capital of the Center region, located along the course of the Loire river. The Loire Valley area where Orléans is located is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city has many valuable buildings, among them, the Gothic cathedral (cathédrale Sainte-Croix d’Orléans), the Renaissance town hall and several buildings related to the life of Joan of Arc – universally known as Joan the Maiden of Orléans. During the Christmas period, the Orléans Christmas Market – which takes place in the squares and streets of the historic center – is the most popular event in this town in the Center region.

Orléans Christmas Market (Marché de Noël). The market has its 60 wooden chalets in the Place du Martroi, Place de la République and Place de Loire, here decorations, jewellery, toys, clothes and gastronomic delicacies are offered and sold. In the same square, other thematic markets, different every week, will join the main market, you will find the handicraft, fair trade and Christmas tree market. Usually a part of the square is dedicated exclusively to children with their “royaume des enfants”, a large ice skating rink is also usually set up here.
