Nice climate: when to go to Nice?

Nice has a Mediterranean climate, very mild thanks to its position, protected from the winds and the surrounding hills, and sheltered by the Esterel and Mercantour massifs and the Alps. The city has pleasant temperatures throughout the year and rainfall moderate temperatures that fall mostly in autumn and winter, generally between October and January.

The average annual rainfall is around 803 mm, the wettest months are October, with 143 mm of rain, and November, with 94 mm. In a year there are only 63 rainy days, the averages vary between just 2 rainy days in the month of July and 7 rainy days in the months of October, November, January and April. The hours of sunshine are 2,668.

The average maximum temperatures vary between 27.2°C in August and 12.9°C in January, while the average minimum temperatures vary between 19.9°C in August and 5.4°C in January. Snow and frost are very rare events, on average it snows 1 day a year, and there are only 2 days of frost a year. Fog is a very rare event and on average is only present for 1 day a year.

The sea water temperature in Nice varies between 13°C in January, February and March, and 24°C in August. From June to mid-October the sea water temperature remains above 20°C.

WHEN TO GO TO NICE?

Thanks to its mild climate, Nice can be visited at any time of the year, the rainiest months of autumn should probably be avoided.
