Nancy, former capital of the kingdom of Lorraine, is, from an artistic point of view, a very beautiful city. The city is located – close to wooded hills – along the banks of the Meurthe and the Marne-Rhine canal. In its historic center there are buildings dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, in addition the three squares of Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière, and Place d’Alliance, overlooked by 18th century buildings, have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site of humanity. The three monumental squares – today a UNESCO World Heritage Site – are the result of the will of the Polish king Stanislas Leszczynski who, after losing the Polish crown, was crowned Duke of Lorraine. During Christmas, the Nancy Christmas Market  is the busiest and most important event in the city.

NANCY CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Nancy Christmas Market (Marché de Noël). During the Christmas holidays the wooden chalets of the Christmas Market enliven the center of the city of Nancy. The market welcomes artisans – who present their  carefully selected crafts – and local producers who offer the typical products of Lorraine, as well as of course, like any self-respecting Christmas market, sweets, gingerbread, Christmas cakes and mulled wine .

The Nancy Christmas market is made up of over 50 wooden houses and has its center in Place Charles III, but also extends into the nearby streets and near the Saint Sébastien shopping center. In the Christmas market you will find gift ideas and Lorraine handicrafts, local gastronomic delicacies and entertainment, choirs and Christmas carols, rides and games for children, and of course the ever-present Santa Claus. The Nacy Christmas market is organized by the “Les Vitrines de Nancy” association, the city’s merchants’ association.
