One of the most beautiful mountains in Pakistan is undoubtedly Mount Rakaposhi. A mountain that is part of the Karakoram chain in northern Pakistan. The Rakaposhi is a mountain that can be seen from different vantage points while going along the Karakoram Highway. One of the most beautiful places to admire the mountain is when you cross the Hunza valley.
This mountain has the particularity of dominating the spectacular valley of the Hunza river with a wall that in a few kilometers rises sharply by almost six thousand meters. The mountain that is the 27th highest peak on the planet rises to 7,788 meters above sea level. Mount Rakaposhi was first climbed by a British-Pakistani expedition in 1958.
The Rakaposhi is spectacular also because its rock and ice wall rises directly above the beautifully cultivated fields of the Hunza valley. The contrast between the green of the cultivated fields, the brown-gray of the rocks and the white of the mountain glaciers is a wonderful spectacle that can be seen directly from the base of the valley to the top of the mountain.
One of the most beautiful viewpoints, which also allows the view of others spectacular mountains of the Karakoram, such as Diran Peak and Ladyfinger Peak, is the Eagle’s Nest, a place situated above Karimabad and overlooking the whole Hunza river valley.
