Morges is a small town in the canton of Vaud, overlooking Lake Geneva, and located on the western outskirts of Lausanne, along the road that leads to the city of Geneva. The village of Morges is known for its beautiful views of the lake and the Alps mountain range, including the majestic Mont Blanc massif. The city of Morges was founded in 1286 by the Savoys. Its picturesque old port, which is now home to pleasure boats, was the largest cargo port on Lake Geneva in the 17th century. The village has a beautiful pedestrian area that extends along the main road in the center of the old town, where markets are held and there are shops, restaurants and open-air bars. In Morges there are a lot of places of historical interest such as the Romanesque church of Saint-Sulpice, the Castle of Morges or the medieval city of Saint-Sulpice. Inside the Château de Morges is the Vaud Military and Artillery museum and the historical museum of lead soldiers. Morges is also famous for the tulip festival which takes place every spring. The Morges Christmas market is the most important event that takes place in the city during the holiday season.
