Molise has mainly two types of climate: a continental climate in the inland areas and a mediterranean climate along the Mediterranean coast. Much of the territory of Molise has a cold and harsh climate in winter with frequent snowfalls. The summers are hot and dry. The narrow coastal strip has a milder climate with extremely hot summers and mild winters. Along the coast the breezes make less sultry the summer days.
The rains are rather scarce, especially along the coast where there are annual averages of around 350 mm. In the interior the precipitations increase with annual averages between 600 mm and 700 mm. The rains are more frequent in the autumn months, especially in November. Summer is the least rainy period. Snow is a frequent occurrence during the winter in the high hills and mountain location.
WHEN TO GO TO MOLISE
The months between April and September are the best to visit the Molise. The summer months between June and September are the best for the sea, while for exploring the inland areas of the region are also fine the months of spring and autumn.
