Millstatt is a village located in the center of Carinthia, along the shores of the lake of the same name (Millstätter See), about 50 km north-west of Villach. In the Middle Ages the locality was the site of an important Benedictine monastery, which is still today the most important tourist attraction of the town.
MILLSTATT CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Millstatt Christmas Market (Christbaumwald im Millstätter See). The market usually takes place at Bar Kap 4613, a popular venue located along Lake Millstatt. The attraction of this market is the floating forest with the floating Christmas tree. In the market, located on a raft anchored on the lake, there are all the Christmas specialties and Carinthian cuisine, with grilled sausages, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine. Local handicrafts and specialties can be admired and purchased every day the market is open.
