Menton is the first French town that is coming from Italy along the Ligurian coast. The city founded in the thirteenth century became part of the Principality of Monaco in the fourteenth century and remained linked to it until 1848, when it voluntarily gave itself to the Kingdom of Sardinia, in 1861 it was ceded to France together with the territory of Nice. The historic center of Menton has the typical aspect of the villages of Liguria made up of colored houses clinging around the port. In recent decades, new residential neighborhoods full of greenery and gardens have been built around the historic village.
