Limburg (Limburg an der Lahn), located along the Lahn River valley, north of Wiesbaden and northwest of Frankfurt am Main, Limburg is another beautiful historic town in Hesse.
Founded in the Middle Ages, it was the site of a castle guarding the strategic ford on the river Lahn, it developed rapidly between the 13th and 16th centuries. The historic center (Altstadt) is almost intact, and houses a beautiful cathedral (Limburger Dom), charming streets and beautiful half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries.
LIMBURG CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Limburg Christmas Market (Limburger Christkindlmarkt). The Limburg Christmas Market usually occupies the Kornmarkt, Neumarkt and Plötze streets in the old part of the city (Altstadt) in a truly enchanting setting, made up of old wooden houses, alleys and beautiful squares. Many stalls of artisans and merchants, the shops of the historic center compete to present their festively decorated windows. You will find a large Christmas pyramid, a beautiful nativity scene, an advent calendar and many musical events.
