The climate of Colombia, because of proximity to the equator presents temperatures suffering only slight variations during the year, but they vary greatly depending on the height.
THE CLIMATE OF THE CARIBBEAN COAST OF COLOMBIA
Along the Caribbean coast in the north of the country the climate is hot and tropical with a rainy season between May and November. The average annual rainfall stand around 2,000 / 2,500 mm, with average temperatures around 25°C.
Moving eastward the climate becomes drier, in the extreme north-eastern tip of Colombia, in the Guajira peninsula, the climate is that of the dry savannah, with rains during the months of April and October-November, while for the rest of the year the climate is dry, the average annual rainfall is 270 mm, while the average temperatures are around 27 ° C.

THE CLIMATE OF THE PACIFIC COAST OF COLOMBIA
The northern coast along the Pacific Ocean is affected by a tropical climate, rainy and humid all year round, making it one of the most rainy area of the Earth, with an average annual rainfall between 6,000 and 3,000 mm and average annual temperatures of about 23°C. Further south always along the Pacific coast the climate also has a short dry season for a couple of months.

In the Andean region there are usually two rainy seasons and two dry seasons, the two rainy seasons are in the months between April and June and between September and November, while the main dry period is during the months between December and March, the secondary shorter and less dry season is between July and August. The mountain regions have a climate that varies depending the height, are generally recognized three climatic zones: Tierra Caliente (below 900 meters), Tierra Templada (from 900 to 2,000 meters) and Tierra Fría (between 2,000 and 3,000 meters).
Most of the Andean areas of the country are in the last two climatic zones. The Tierra Templata presents temperatures ranging between 18°C and 24°C with average annual rainfall of 1,000 / 2,500 mm, with two dry seasons between January and March and between July and September. The Tierra Fria, where is also the capital Bogota (2640 meters), has two rainy seasons between April and May and between September and December, with averages annual rainfall between 1,000 mm and 2,000 mm per year and average temperatures of 10°C-17°C.
THE CLIMATE OF LOS LLANOS IN COLOMBIA
In central-eastern plains, called Los Llanos, there are two defined seasons a dry season between December and March and a wet and rainy season between April and November. In these regions the average annual rainfall varies between 1,000 / 1,800 mm, while average temperatures are about 23°C.
THE CLIMATE OF THE COLOMBIAN AMAZON
The Amazon area of Colombia is affected by a rainy and humid climate throughout the year with an average annual rainfall of about 2,500 mm. The annual temperature averages is about 23°C.
WHEN TO GO TO COLOMBIA
The best time to travel to Colombia is certainly the dry season between December and March, or alternatively the months of July and August.
