Kaufbeuren Christmas Market

Kaufbeuren is a small town from Bavaria located between Munich and Lake Constance. Founded in the Middle Ages, it still retains part of its beautiful medieval walls, which enclose the historic center, where there are interesting buildings such as the Town Hall (Rathaus) and several prestigious churches.

Very beautiful is the historical re-enactment called Tänzelfest which is held in Kaufbeuren every year at the end of July. The festival which is dedicated to children and whose protagonists are children, lasts 12 days and consists of a reconstruction of a medieval camp with period costumes, tents and a market, the Tänzelfest is the oldest historical festival for children of Bavaria.

KAUFBEUREN CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Christmas Market (Kaufbeurer Weihnachtsmarkt) in Kirchplatz St. Martin in the city centre. The Christmas market consists of about 30 decorated wooden stalls selling Christmas gifts and decorations, local handicrafts and delicious Christmas sweets.

Characteristic of the Kaufbeuren Christmas is a large Advent wreath with a diameter of eight meters. Other attractions include the Christmas trail, and singing and choir shows for children.
