Imst is a small town in Tyrol located along the valley of the river Inn at about 830 meters above sea level and only 50 km west of Innsbruck.
The town was founded in the Middle Ages as a market place, then between the 15th and 18th centuries the area became important for its mines. Today the town is part of the small historic towns of Austria and has a beautiful historic center made up of Gothic and Baroque palaces.
IMST CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Imst Christmas Market (Adventmarkt in der Imster Innenstadt). During the Christmas period, a small but charming Christmas market usually takes place in the center of Imst, full of charm and Christmas atmosphere. At the Christmas market in Imst, guests can sample Tyrolean gastronomic delicacies, hot tea, home-made specialties and enjoy the famous mulled wine. The path of the nativity scenes (Krippenpfad) is also very beautiful, where nativity scenes produced by local artisans are usually exhibited. Imst also has typical attractions for children such as games, carousels, puppet shows, etc… As a tradition, every Sunday at 6 pm the Advent candles are lit on the giant Advent wreath.
