How to get to Vienna. Flights to Vienna

Flights to Vienna. Vienna Airport is the Vienna (Schwechat) International Airport (IATA: VIE). The airport is located 18 kilometers southeast of Vienna, and is the main Austrian airport. The airport, with 3 terminals, is the hub of Austrian Airlines.

All major European cities and some non-European destinations are connected by direct flights with Vienna airport. Given its proximity to Bratislava, Vienna Airport, in addition to serving the city Vienna, also serves the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. There are also many different flights connecting European cities with Vienna.

HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO VIENNA

To get to the center of Vienna from Vienna Schwechat airport, which is located on the outskirts of the city, you can take the “City Airport Train”, or alternatively one of the shuttle buses that connect the airport to the city center, the metropolitan train (S-Bahn), Vienna Airport-Service or taxi.

The City Airport Train connects Landstraße / Wien Mitte with the airport every half hour. Duration of the ride: 16 minutes (Tickets: single ride: 9 euros; return: 16 euros; ticket on the train; with the Vienna Card: 7.50 euros instead of 9).

Vienna Airport Lines shuttle buses connect the airport to the city center (Morzinplatz / Franz-Josefs-Kai). Duration of the ride: 20 minutes. Departures every day every 30 minutes from 5.00 to 23.30 from Vienna Morzinplatz / Schwedenplatz. Departures every day every 30 minutes from 6.20 to 00.20 from Vienna Airport Schwechat. (Tickets: Single ride: 6 euros. Round trip: 11 euros).

The Metropolitan Train (S-Bahan) connects the airport to the city center at moderate prices, the line is the S7 Line. Trains going to the airport bear the words “Wolfsthal” or “Flughafen”. Direct trains from the airport to the city center bear the words “Wien Mitte”, “Wien Nord” or “Floridsdorf”.

Car rental: The most important car rental companies have their own office inside the Vienna airport. Normally it is better to book the car in advance.
