Hotel at Rome Fiumicino Airport: HelloSky Airport

The most important airport in Italy is Rome-Fiumicino. If your flight arrives late in the evening or leaves early in the morning one of the most interesting options is sleeping near the airport. This time I have to take a flight that leaves from Rome-Fiumicino airport in the morning and start looking for the hotels at the airport in Rome that best suit my needs.

I am looking for a hotel that is located in the immediate vicinity of the airport. There are several including the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport, the Best Western Hotel Rome Airport, the Mercure Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport Hotel and very close to the airport is the Hilton Rome Airport which is directly connected to the Terminals 1-2-3 with a pedestrian overpass. But recently a new hotel has been built right next to the Departures terminal of the T3: the Hotel HelloSky Rome Airport. And it is this hotel that I decide to try on this trip.

HOTEL HELLOSKY ROME AIRPORT

The location of this hotel (like the relatively further Hilton Rome Airport) allows you to leave your car at one of the convenient car parks (BCD) located inside the airport terminal and with a few tens of meters of pedestrian walkway enter the hotel without ever going outside. Another interesting thing: if you are in transit at the airport and you have to wait a few hours between flights, this hotel allows you to rest for the hours you want at any time. In fact, it is possible to book the room for day use even for a few hours (usually for 3 or 6 hours). Or you can book your stay in the Lounge where you can relax and take a shower if you wish.

The hotel is excellently located within the airport. It is located just outside the parking area B-C-D along the route to enter inside the departure area of the T3 airport terminal. The Hotel can almost go unnoticed. The hotel entrance is located right at the crossroads of the pedestrian walkways that from the B-C-D car parks lead to the terminals T3 and T1-T2.

The welcome at the reception was very kind and professional. I took the key to my room and headed for the elevator. However, the lift was out of order. So I had to make a flight of stairs with my suitcase. I found the room, I opened it, but it was all in a mess: it hadn’t been redone. I went up to the reception again and the kind lady promptly changed my room with a new room, apologizing for what happened.

THE SINGLE ROOM

The room, being a single room, is not very large, but has all the essentials to spend a night without problems. In the bedroom there is a single bed with a chair in front of it and a desk with numerous electrical outlets. On the desk there is a kettle with tea bags, coffee and sugar. Above the desk a good-sized flat-screen television. In the bedroom there is also an area with clothes hangers. In the bathroom there is a nice shower, a round sink, a cabinet to put things down and a good supply of towels.

Among the features a kit with buttons, needle and thread. In the bathroom there is a kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste, ear plugs, cotton swabs and other useful things for travelers. Inside the fridge there are two bottles of water (one carbonated and one natural) available to guests free of charge. On the bedside table a dolcetto (a cantuccino). There is free WIFI inside the hotel and in the rooms.

The Hotel HelloSky Rome Airport has undoubtedly the advantages of being in a perfect position next to the departure terminal of Rome Fiumicino Airport. On the negative side I could indicate the price which is quite high, but the convenience of being at the airport pays off and in my case I appreciated. To eat and have breakfast you can comfortably take advantage of the many restaurants and bars inside the Terminal. Without a doubt if I need to spend a night in Fiumicino again my choice will fall on one of the two hotels connected to the airport terminal: the farthest Hilton Rome Airport or the closest HelloSky Rome Airport.
