Grossarl Christmas Market

Grossarl, an Austrian town located just south of Salzburg at an altitude of over 900 metres, is a renowned holiday resort surrounded by mountains exceeding 2,000 metres. The town developed in the Middle Ages as a market center and still retains this role.

GROSSARL CHRISTMAS MARKET

The Christmas events in the Großarltal are called Salzburger Bergadvent im Großarltal, in the valley a Christmas market is usually organized in Grossarl. The Grossarl Christmas market is usually held on Advent weekends.

1) Grossarl Christmas Market (Adventmarkt Großarl). The market presents handicrafts in glass, straw and ceramics, there are numerous attractions for children such as the live nativity scene. The decorated stalls of the market also offer local and typical Christmas gastronomy. Many events during the Advent weeks are dedicated to children, there will be an oven where they can prepare biscuits, the post office of the Child Jesus where they can send their letters to Santa Claus. Normally on December 5th of each year there is then the traditional appointment with St. Nikolaus and the Krampus.
