Greenland is an isolated place from everything and one of the places on our planet where you can meet a hard, but spectacular nature. It is not easy to reach this land mass which is the largest island on the planet. There are direct flights departing from Copenhagen and arriving at one of Greenland’s international airports, the main one being Kangerlussuaq. Kangerlussuaq, located on the side of the island facing Canada, can be reached in just over 4 hours by flight from Copenhagen.
To reach Ilulissat and Disko Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most spectacular places in Greenland, however, it is necessary to take an internal flight of about 45 minutes that spectacularly flies over the coast of the island and allows you to see from a not too high height the Greenlandic ice cap.
Once you arrive in Ilulissat there are numerous excursions to do: you can go on spectacular treks along the bay and the Disko fjord, observe icebergs and whales by participating in a boat excursion, admire the collapses of the Eqi glacier and many other attractions … And if you want to dare, and you are so extreme as to tackle this journey at the end of the summer or just before the beginning of the Arctic summer, when there are still a few hours of darkness, you can also have the opportunity to admire the polar auroras. Some hotels, for this purpose, have built structures with skylights that allow you to observe them, between the covers, only by opening your eyes, directly from your bed. A very romantic thing … It could be a very alternative honeymoon.
