Granada, the city of the Alhambra, is one of the most visited and most beautiful cities in Andalusia.

In addition to the famous Alhambra, the Generalife gardens and the historic district of Albaicín, all of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the city has a beautiful 16th-century Renaissance cathedral, with the adjoining Capilla Real.

Other attractions to visit in Granada are the Baroque Monastery of the Cartuja (Monasterio de la Cartuja), the Renaissance Monastery of San Jerónimo (Monasterio de San Jerónimo), and the Science Park (Parque de las Ciencias), the first interactive museum dedicated to science of Andalusia.

GRANADA CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) The Granada Christmas Market (Feria Navideña – Mercado de Artesanía y Belenes de las calles y plazas  del centro de la ciudad – Mercadillo de Navidad de Bib-Rambla y Puerta Real-Fuente de las Batallas) takes place in the city centre, in the Plaza De Bib-Rambla (28 chalets), Puerta Real-Fuente de las Batallas (22 chalets) near the majestic cathedral. The market is made up of about 50 stalls where gifts, handicrafts, garlands, books, plants, Christmas trees, candies, cold cuts, wines and quality local products are sold, objects handmade and traditional products, sweets and typical products of the Christmas like the nativity figurines. In Fuente de las Batallas y Humilladero there will be handicraft stalls.

Stroll among the stalls of the market, visit the many nativity scenes that dot the city, and if you are in Granada on January 5th you can see the traditional Cavalcade of the Three Kings (Cabalgata de Reyes), a tradition that dates back to the end of the 19th century, it is of a procession in costume, with horses and camels, which reconstructs the arrival of the Magi. The procession starts from calle Rector López Argüeta and ends in the Plaza del Carmen, where is the town hall (Ayuntamiento).
