A town in central-eastern Hesse near the border with Bavaria and Thuringia, Fulda had its origins in the 8th century with the founding of a monastery. The city is famous for its Baroque style buildings, built in the 18th century by the Prince-Bishops. The city of Fulda is a popular tourist destination, the most interesting buildings in Fulda are the Renaissance castle (Fuldaer Stadtschloss) but rebuilt in the Baroque period, the old town hall (Altes Rathaus) and the cathedral (Dom St. Salvator) from the 18th century , which houses the relics of St. Boniface, the apostle of Germany. During Christmas the city is bathed in festive light, the houses are decorated for Christmas, the snow on the streets of the historic center and the Christmas market create an unparalleled atmosphere.

FULDA CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Fulda Christmas Market (Fuldaer Weihnachtsmarkt). During Christmas Fulda is usually illuminated by thousands of light bulbs and the shop windows in the center are festooned with Christmas decorations. The wooden chalets of the Fulda Christmas Market and Craft Market (Weihnachtsmarkt mit Handwerkermarkt) usually fill the squares Universitätsplatz, Jesuitenplatz, Museumshof and Borgiasplatz in the city center (Innenstadt). The market is usually made up of over 70 stalls offering a range of handicrafts, Christmas decorations and Christmas goodies. Carols and Christmas carols fill the streets of this beautiful Hessian Baroque city.
