Dublin, Ireland’s capital, is located along the island’s east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey. The city was founded around the tenth century by the Vikings and Celts. Its location was strategically situated as a good natural port to Britain. Since the Middle Ages the town became the political, economic and cultural center of Ireland. Dublin does not have a well-defined center, but the most animated of the city is the Temple Bar district located along the south bank of the River Liffey. During the period of Christmas and Advent, Dublin is home to some interesting Christmas markets, among the most famous and popular the new St. Stephen’s Green Christmas Market.
