Deggendorf is a small town in Bavaria, located along the Danube between Passau and Regensburg, near where the Isar River flows into the Danube. Deggendorf is a small university town in the Danube valley at the foot of the Bavarian Forest mountains and is therefore known as the gateway to the Bavarian Forest. The city was probably founded at the end of the 10th or the beginning of the 11th century and developed thanks to its position along the river in a very favorable point for trade and commerce.
DEGGENDORF CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Christmas Market (Deggendorfer Christkindlmarkt) in the Oberer Stadtplatz. Made up of about 40 typical wooden houses, the Deggendorf Christmas market exhibits arts and crafts, as well as a wide selection of beautiful gift items for your loved ones, as well as allowing you to taste local food and drink. In addition to the classic Christmas market, which fills the pedestrian area of the town, the Deggendorf Advent has its strong points in the advent calendar and in the street of cribs that dot the windows of the city, while the baroque crib makes exhibited in the halls of the Civic Museum.
