The small but scenic town of Hall in Tirol is located less than 10 km east of Innsbruck. Founded in the Middle Ages, it became an important mining center thanks to the salt mines found in the area.
The heyday for Hall was between the 14th and 16th centuries, at the time the city was the seat of the mint and became one of the most important centers of the Habsburg domains. Today the city has one of the most beautiful medieval centers in Austria.
HALL IN TIROL CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) A few kilometers from Innsbruck, the Hall in Tirol Christmas Market (Haller Adventmarkt) is usually held in the upper square of the medieval historic center of the town (Oberen Stadtplatz), the town hall square.
The chalets display typical gastronomic products of the Tyrol region such as “kiachl” (sweet filled dumplings), donuts and the ever-present mulled wine. In other chalets, however, local handicraft products are displayed, in particular the one dedicated to Christmas, including straw, glass, terracotta and wood products.
The market is usually enlivened by other events and shows such as the Christmas carriage, Christmas music and the petting zoo. Every day the Advent calendar is projected onto the facades of the houses in the village.
