CANADA: DOCUMENTS

Documents: For the European citizen, a passport is required to enter Canada. A personal passport is also mandatory for children and minors. In addition, the electronic travel authorization (eTA) must be requested online. It is an electronic visa similar to that for the United States. Here you will find all the necessary information.

Citizens of other countries may be required to apply for a visa.

For documents needed to travel to Canada, we always recommend checking the country’s official website.

CANADA: HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Healthcare: Healthcare in Canada is excellent. Health care, for non-residents, is subject to a fee, therefore the stipulation of a health and travel insurance is highly recommended. Such additional health insurances are always a good thing to do during every trip, but for a trip to Canada they are an absolutely necessary thing if you don’t want to risk paying excessive amounts for any medical assistance you will need.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are required.

CANADA: MOBILE PHONES AND INTERNET

Telephones: Canada’s international dialing code is 001.

Mobile Phones: GSM (North American frequency), TDMA, ANALOGIC, International Satellite networks are active in Canada.

Traditional dual band cell phones (900 and 1800 MHz) do not work in Canada. To make calls from Canada, you need a Tri-Band mobile phone that works with the 1900 MHz frequency.

The main cell phone companies in Canada are: Rogers Wireless, Bell Mobility, and TELUS Mobility.

Internet: The internet is highly developed and ensures an excellent communication system across the country. Most hotels have paid or free Internet connections.

CANADA: POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS

Electricity: The electric current in Canada is 120 Volts 60 Hz.

Electrical outlets: Type A and B power plugs and sockets are used in Canada. These power plugs and sockets are the same as those used in the United States of America. To use European electrical appliances, a standard lamella-type adapter is therefore required.
