The territory of Bangladesh extends over an immense plain, formed by the floodplains of the Ganges, Brahmaputra-Jamuna, Tista and Surma-Meghna rivers. Near the coast lies the immense Ganges-Brahmaputra delta, characterized by the flooding of rivers and the tide, to the west are the Sunderbans, a large area covered with mangrove forests.

The highest peak in the country, Mount Mowdok Mual (1,052 meters), is located on the border with Burma (Myanmar).
