ARGENTINA DOCUMENTS

Documents: To enter Argentina you need to have a passport valid for at least three months from the date of departure. Even children and minors need their own passport.

Visa: not necessary for tourist stays of less than three months.

ARGENTINA HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE, AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Health Care: Public health care in Argentina is at a fair level. Private health care is of a good standard. Before going to Argentina we recommend that you take out health and travel insurance that includes all medical costs. Travel insurance has negligible costs and allows you to cover your medical expenses during your stay in Argentina.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are required.

ARGENTINA MOBILE PHONES AND INTERNET

Telephones: The international dialing code for Argentina is 0054.

Mobile Phones: Tri-Band systems (1900 Mhz) are used in Argentina, therefore mobile phones only work if tri-band or satellite. The technology used is GSM, GPRS, EDGE UMTS, HSDPA.

Mobile operators: Movistar, Claro, Personal, Nextel.

Internet: Many hotels have free or paid Internet connections, there are many Internet cafes in every city in the country. The hotels usually have free WIFI internet connection. In some villages and towns there are free internet connections available to the population.

ARGENTINA POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS

Electricity: The electric current is 220 Volts, 50 Hz.

Electrical sockets: The power plugs and sockets in Argentina are those of type C and I. Type C power plugs and sockets are like the European power plugs and sockets, while type I power plugs and sockets are the same as those used in Australia and New Zealand. Generally, however, there are sockets similar to the European ones.

ARGENTINA CURRENCY AND BANKS

Currency: Peso (Argentine Peso, ARS), divided into 100 centavos.

Banks: Both US Dollars and the Euro are easily exchanged. Both currencies are convertible in local currency in the main cities, in most hotels, in exchange houses and obviously in banks. Traveler’s checks and credit cards are accepted in major cities and tourist locations. Banks and exchange offices are open from 10.00 to 15.00.
