Magdeburg is a historic German city, located along the Elbe River southwest of Berlin, the capital of Saxony Anhalt. Ancient city of the Hanseatic League, which later became the largest fortified center of Prussia, Magdeburg was largely destroyed during the bombings of the Second World War. The most important historical building is the huge Protestant cathedral, a Gothic building dating back to the 13th century.

MAGDEBURG CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Magdeburg Christmas Market (Magdeburger Weihnachtsmarkt). The market is held in the old market square, in front of the town hall, and is full of local handicraft products and gifts for the Christmas holidays. Among the inevitable gastronomic specialties are toasted almonds and cotton candy. In addition, the calendar of events for the Advent weeks is full of many musical and singing events, as well as shows specially dedicated to children. The Magdeburg Christmas market is set in an exciting romantic setting, with a medieval but also a children’s fairytale atmosphere. Among the attractions you will find the ice rink, the medieval baths, the Christmas sleigh and the carousel for children.
