In the heart of Bamberg (Bamberg), whose historic center is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, two markets are set up, the classic Bamberg Christmas market and the more contemplative medieval Christmas market, in the enchanting setting of the old court. Bamberg’s famous nativity scene street is one of the main attractions: it crosses the whole city with about 35 “stations” and also includes nativity scenes in the traditional market.
BAMBERG CHRISTMAS MARKET
1) Christmas Market (Bamberger Weihnachtsmarkt). The city’s main Christmas market usually takes place on the Maxplatz in the center of the old town. Here you will find Christmas items such as candles, toys, and Christmas decorations, cured meats, toasted almonds, gingerbread, many sweets from the region, and mulled wine. This is Bamberg’s traditional Christmas market, its origin dates back to the mid-19th century. In addition to the classic Christmas items such as candles and Christmas decorations, the market offers products from the region, the typical German sausages, roasted chestnuts, toasted almonds, gingerbread and mulled wine. The visit of the old city is also very beautiful with its shops and streets lit up and decorated for Christmas.
