Bath is a natural spa in the UK, is located in the county of Somerset, in the south-west of England, just 15 km from the city of Bristol. Its spas were famous since Roman times, they, in fact, exploited the thermal springs intensely during the centuries of their control of Britain, at that time Bath was known under the name Aquae Sulis. In the Middle Ages, around the seventh century there was founded an abbey, Bath Abbey, which in later centuries was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. Bath became popular as a spa town in the Georgian era – that is, during the period between 1714 and 1830. The historic center of Bath, which has been listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO, features Georgian style buildings dating from the eighteenth century, the historic Gothic abbey and the famous Roman Baths.
