In the city of San Francisco you can visit the Great Dickens Christmas Fair where you can go back to the atmosphere of Victorian London. In the Silicon Valley there is the German Holiday Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) at City Hall Plaza, Mountain View.

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair – Cow Palace Exhibition Halls, 2600 Geneva Avenue, Daly City, CA 94014 – San Francisco. This fair is held at the Cow Palace Exhibition Halls and is the reconstruction of Victorian London with costumed characters. You will find lit halls, pubs, dance floors, and Christmas shopping. The setting is that of the London of Charles Dickens, a city with streets full of literary and historical characters where you can appreciate the seductive aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty foods typical of Christmas.

Dozens of shops lit by the lamps are filled to the brim with Christmas gifts. The Dickens Christmas Fair is a valuable tradition in the Bay Area since 1970, and a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. The Fair is open for five Weekends including the Friday after Thanksgiving.

German International School of Silicon Valley’s German Holiday Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) – City Hall Plaza, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. The German Holiday Market takes place at City Hall Plaza in Mountain View, CA and recreates the festive atmosphere of the open-air winter markets found in villages throughout Austria, Germany and Switzerland. this is a unique village market. This traditional German Christmas market offers typical German products such as Glühwein (warm mulled wine), Würste (sausages), Bier (beer), Kinderpunsch (warm cider), Bretzln (pretzels), Stollen (cake with candied fruit and dusted with powdered sugar), Lebkuchen (gingerbread) and Gebrannte Mandeln (toasted candied almonds). You will find also examples of handicrafts from Germany.
