A spectacular land, a high altitude desert with majestic snowy volcanoes. But also colored lagoons, rocks smoothed by atmospheric agents, plateaus with Martian soils. And finally a vast plain of salt, the Salar de Uyuni, which in the rainy season becomes a vast lake with water only 5 centimeters high. All this and much more is the landscape of the highlands of Bolivia where altitudes close to 5,000 meters above sea level are reached.
ALTITUDE IS FEELED, DO THINGS WITH CALM
In this wonderful place the altitude makes itself felt, but if you have the time to acclimatise yourself for a few days and do not make abrupt efforts, you can easily experience the experience of these places out of the world that seem to be from another planet. Your reaction to altitude is also an experience of this journey. I had a few moments of heeling, which however were mainly dictated by what I saw that happened to my travel companions, also partly influenced by the thought of altitude. Do things calmly and try not to think about the height you are at, because it will probably be more of an auto-suggestion problem than a real altitude problem. Relax and admire the beauty of this place out of the world.
RAREFACED AIR AND LANDSCAPES OF ANOTHER PLANET
The arid high-altitude expanses of the Siloli desert with the stone tree (Árbol de Piedra) and other spectacular rock formations smoothed by the wind. The spectacular lagoons of various colors surrounded by the peaks of majestic snow-covered volcanoes that reach 6,000 meters in height. Among the most beautiful are the Laguna Verde, Laguna Colorada, Laguna Hedionda, Laguna Honda, Laguna Turquiri, Laguna Blanca, etc …
The isolated Laguna Negra, where llamas graze surrounded by amazing rock formations. The rocks of all forms of the so-called “Italia Perdida”. The Anaconda canyon where we were blocked for hours by the quicksand … The Termas de Polques where you can take a hot bath at over 4,000 meters above sea level. The geysers of Sol de la Manana where I reached 5,000 meters in height, the highest place reached in my trip. The Desierto Salvador Dalí with its colorful landscape where volcanic peaks emerge from everywhere.
