Formentera is the southernmost island of the archipelago of the Balearic islands, among the largest islands it is also the smallest island of the archipelago.
Located at the southern end of the Balearic archipelago. This island is also the smallest of the archipelago, in fact it measures only 19 km in length and its surface is 83 sq km. This island is also the least inhabited island of the Balearic Islands, only 7,500 inhabitants reside there permanently.
Formentera is a flat island, its highest point does not exceed 200 meters in height (La Mola hill, 192 masl). The vegetation of the island is typically Mediterranean, there are the typical Mediterranean bushes and pine forests. This is the most exclusive destination in the archipelago. It is also the island with the most beautiful beaches and sea in the Balearics.
The island is known as a paradise for lovers of the sea and sunbathing. On a coast that stretches for about 69 km there are very beautiful coves and beaches. Among the most beautiful and well-known are especially renowned those of Espalmador, Cala Saona, Illetas, Levante, Es Arenals and Migjorn. The best known holiday resort on the island is the village of Es Pujols, located on the north coast. Daily excursions from Ibiza are also possible.
HOW TO GET TO FORMENTERA: FLIGHTS AND FERRIES
There is no airport on the island, it is better to get to Ibiza airport and to use one of the many ferry services that connect the two islands. The journey time is only 25 minutes.
Connections with the other Balearic islands: Every day there are regular line ferries that connect Formentera with Ibiza. The shipping companies that guarantee this service are: Trasmapi, Mediterranea Pitiusa SL, Iscomar and Baleària Eurolínies Marítimes. The crossing usually takes 25 minutes.
