Paliki is the westernmost peninsula of the island of Kefalonia. This peninsula faces the Ionian Sea, and is connected to the rest of the island in the north eastern part. On the east side, the Gulf of Argostoli separates Paliki from Kefalonia. The Paliki peninsula is located in the western part of the island of Kefalonia, and is formed by a mountain range that rises over 500 meters high. This is the wildest area of Kefalonia, characterized by a beautiful landscape and some small beaches out of the confusion that sometimes reigns in the best known beaches of Kefalonia.

The only inhabited center of a certain importance on the Paliki peninsula which is equipped with modern tourist services is the town of Lixouri. Which is located along the west coast of the peninsula. That is, the stretch of coast washed by the waters of the Gulf of Argostoli.

HIGH AND ROCKY COASTS WITH SOME SMALL BEACHES

The western coast of the Paliki peninsula, which is the westernmost part of the island of Kefalonia, is formed by high and steep coasts. Along the west coast there are some very beautiful small beaches. Among these, Platia Amos beach, known as the 300 steps beach, is worth a stop. Two other noteworthy beaches are those of Aghia Elenis and Petani, which can be reached by means of paths that descend along the steep rocky walls. Atheras beach is located at the north end of the peninsula.

In this area of the island there are often uncrowded beaches with few services. However, they are beaches located in a very beautiful natural setting. At the southern end of the peninsula there are two other small beaches of Kefalonia which are closed by low limestone cliffs. These are the beaches of Xi and Kunopetra which have a characteristic pink colored sand.
