Documents: For the tourist entrance in Guatemala is required to possess a valid passport. Even children and minors need their own passport.

Visa: not necessary for tourist stays in Guatemala of less than three months.

Healthcare: Hospitals and public health care are very poor. Private clinics are of a better standard. As in all trips abroad, even for a trip to Guatemala, before traveling, we recommend that you take out health insurance that covers all medical expenses. This type of health insurance is even more necessary in countries where public health care is of a low standard. In addition, these travel insurance costs only a few tens of euros and make the trip much more peaceful in all respects in case of problems.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are required. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for those traveling to the northern part of the country.

Currency: Quetzal (GTQ), divided into 100 centavos.

Banks: Guatemala’s banks are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 18.00 and on Saturdays from 9.00 to 13.00.
