Travel Documents: The entry into Austria from other European countries is free, in fact the entry into force of the Schengen treaty between the EU member states no longer exist customs.
European citizens must be in possession of the following documents: Identity Card valid for foreign travel or Passport. Children and minors must have their own passport / identity card.
Driving license: To drive in Austria you must be in possession of a national driving license.
Car Insurance: To visit by car Austria you need the European insurance.

AUSTRIA: HEALTH INSURANCE, TRAVEL INSURANCE, AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Health Care: Austria has an excellent health service. As part of the European Union, to take advantage of the public health care in Austria you need to have with you the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Health Card. In every trip is a good practice to enter into a supplementary health and travel insurance, costing a few tens of Euros, and make your trip safer and peaceful.

Telephones: Country Dialing Code for Austria: 0043.
Mobile Telephones: All GSM phones work in Austria. There are GSM networks in the 900 MHz range and 1800 MHz range.
Mobile telephone operators: A1, T-Mobile, One, 3.
Internet: Many Austrian cafés and other establishments offer the opportunity to log onto the Internet via Wi-Fi with your wireless-enabled laptop.
AUSTRIA: POWER PLUGS AND ELECTRIC SOCKETS
Electricity: In Austria, the voltage in the houses and hotels is 230 V 50 Hz.
Electrical plugs and sockets: The power plugs and sockets used in Austria are those of type C and F. Both are the same as the power plugs and sockets used in the rest of Europe.
AUSTRIA: CURRENCY AND BANKS
Money and Banks: Austria common currency is Euro.
Credit cards are accepted everywhere.
Banking Hours: Banks in Austria are usually open Mon-Wed-Fri from 8 to 15, Thursday from 8 am to 17.30, branches are closed from 12.30 to 13.30.
AUSTRIA: SHOPS
Shopping hours: In Austria, the opening hours of shops is free. Usually the stores have the following times: Monday to Friday from 8.00 am till 18.30, on Saturdays until 12.00 but some shops are open until 17.00. In major cities, shops remain open on Saturday afternoon. On Sundays and holidays, the shops are closed.
