September is one of the most pleasant months to spend holidays along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, avoiding the overcrowding of August and enjoying a not too hot climate. Italy, Spain, Mediterranean France with Corsica and the Côte d’Azur and Greece are perfect destinations for this month. The rest of Europe has also a pleasant climate in September. The period between the end of August and the beginning of September is the best time to see the flowering Heather (Erica) in Scotland.
East African countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique and Southern Africa with Namibia, the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, the large island of Madagascar and the other islands of the Indian Ocean such as the island of Mauritius, Zanzibar and the islands of the Seychelles archipelago continue to be in their relatively dry season. In South Africa from August to November you can watch whales along the coast between Cape Town and Hermanus.
In the city of Rio de Janeiro the months between June and September are the least rainy months of the year. In Salvador da Bahia September is the driest month of the year. The Pantanal and the Amazon in Brazil have one of the least rainy months of the year in September. September is a good month to visit the Andean highlands of Chile, Bolivia and Peru, where the weather is cool by day and cold at night, but the days are dry and clear. The United States of America is an ideal destination to see the areas of the National Parks of the Far West. There is no longer the suffocating heat that characterizes the central months of summer and the days are always quite long and the climate is mild. Even large US cities like New York can be visited without problems during this period.
September continues to be a good time to visit the islands of the South Pacific and the east coast of Australia: The coast of the Great Barrier Reef and the North Territory of Australia are also good for visiting in September.
