Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park protects stunning mountain scenery and a diverse array of wildlife. It was established as a national park in 1929. The park is formed by the mountains of the Teton Range of the Rocky Mountains, the area is rich in lakes of glacial origin.
This is a rugged chain of mountains. The highest peak is the Grand Teton at 4,197 m., twelve peaks are over 3,660 m. above sea level. Seven of these mountains, located between Cascade and Avalanche canyon,s form the mountains of the Cathedral Group, which is the most spectacular part of the park.
A scenic highway that extends from the northern border of Grand Teton National Park connected the park to the southern entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
The Grand Teton park covers about 130,000 hectares in the U.S. state of Wyoming and was created in 1929 to preserve the beauty of this area of rugged mountains that rise from the surrounding plateau of about 2,100 meters. The park protects an area that is rich in flora and fauna.
Grand Teton National Park is a popular destination for mountaineering, trekking, fishing and other forms of recreation. The park is equipped with many services and there are over 300 km of paths. In the vicinity of the park there are numerous campsites, hotels and other accommodation facilities.
GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK USEFUL INFORMATION
The main visitors center (Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center (Moose visitor center)) is open Year-round, closed December 25.
Hours:
November 1 to April 30: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
May 1 to June 3: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June 4 to September 30: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
October 1 to October 31: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets: The entrance fee is $ 25.00 per vehicle and is valid for 7 days. The ticket is good for both Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks for seven days.
