The climate of Nepal: when to go to Nepal ?

Nepal, despite its small size, has a wide variety of types of climate, due in particular to the huge differences in height between the areas of the country, it goes from 60 meters in the southern areas along the border with India to more than 8,000 meters of the Himalaya Mountains.

Climatically, Nepal can be divided into three zones: the southern area, flat, on the border with India, known as the Terai with a sub-tropical climate, the central area of hills and low mountains, between 1,000 and 2,500 meters of altitude, which has a temperate climate, and the mountainous Himalayas with a cold and dry climate.

The rains that are regulated by the monsoons, are more abundant in eastern Nepal and decrease towards the west, in the rainiest part of the country the rainy season extends for six months, between May and October, while in the rest of the country the rainy season is from June to September.

Precipitations in eastern Nepal reach values ​​ranging between 2,000 mm and 2,500 mm, while in the central and western Nepal the average annual rainfall varies between 1,000 mm and 1,500 mm.

WHEN TO GO TO NEPAL

The best time for a trip to Nepal are the autumn months, between October and November, with a mild climate and lush lands, and the spring months, between February and April. Are to avoid the months of monsoon rains between May/June and September.
